Summary: These guidelines offer useful suggestions on good practice for anyone helping to provide learning opportunities for disaffected young people. Based on the Learning and Skills Agency's 'Back on track' study of learning provision for disaffected young people, they are supported by examples from case study organisations and quotations from young people. Six principles of good practice are described, from strategies to reach and engage young people, through to accountability within a project or programme. Each principle has a brief introduction and a summary of the key elements, followed by 'Questions to ask', helping the reader either as an individual or as a member of a group, to review practice and plan for improvement.
