Summary: This report identifies recent English-language research on basic skills in the workplace. It attempts to record and analyse what has been written about the subject and to provide an overview of the field. It seeks to provide information that will: inform policy regarding the expansion of workplace basic skills as part of the government's basic skills strategy; inform practice by established and new providers of workplace basic skills; inform decisions about future research priorities.
