Research into Mergers
LSN Reserch has been carrying out an internally funded piece of research looking at mergers across the FE sector. The work aims to provide an overview of present and recent merger activity, looking at the circumstances in which mergers arise and what works well in implementing mergers - whilst recognising that many issues are highly context dependent. Research methodology comprises a literature review, a round of stakeholder consultations and then a small number of mini-case case studies of colleges that have recently merged or are currently merging. The research should lead to a publication, which we hope will be of relevance and interest for a range of stakeholders across the sector.
