Evaluation and Skills Research Centre

Evaluation of the Single Equality Scheme Support Programme

The Evaluation and Skills Research Centre carried out an evaluation of the Learning and Skills Council’s (LSC) Single Equality Scheme (SES) support programme. The support programme was a national initiative designed to support Further Education (FE) providers in working towards a SES. The main aims of the evaluation were to analyse the impact of the support programme in terms of provider engagement, satisfaction and reach, and provide recommendations to support the future implementation of equality and diversity across the sector. The support programme involved several strands of activity including briefing sessions, regional seminars, action working projects and a virtual learning environment (VLE). Providers were asked to provide feedback about each activity through evaluation forms, an online survey and follow up interviews. In addition, before the support programme commenced a baseline survey was undertaken in order to ascertain a benchmark against which to measure distance travelled after the support programme. The timescale for the project was between September 2007 and December 2008.
