Triple Science Support Programme
The programme will support schools that offer, or would like to offer, the three separate science GCSEs from 2008. Funded by the DfES and delivered by LSN, the programme provided free in-house training and consultancy, networks and resources; all aimed at improving teaching, learning and attainment in physics, chemistry and biology, encouraging more young people to take the three separate sciences at GCSE.
The research included conducting focus groups with a number of schools to explore with head teachers and heads of science some of the issues around offering the three sciences- physics, chemistry and biology as individual GCSEs as part of a DfES funded support programme for schools.
