Research into the roles, deployment and training of support staff in 14-19 applied learning programmes

The overarching aim of the research is to inform future DCSF guidance on roles, deployment and development of school support staff to consortia preparing to deliver Diplomas in September 2009. The final research report and case studies should assist consortia in planning effective deployment and in identifying training needs of support staff.

The research involves visits to 20 consortia to conduct in-depth interviews with consortia leads, senior management teams, teachers and a range of support staff. The interviews focus on the deployment, roles, responsibilities, training and development needs of a range of school support staff (learning support, administration, technical and specialist support), in preparation for Diploma delivery.
