Mapping patterns of provision for young people & the wider community in Further Education (LSC 2008)
This project is designed to develop a better understanding of the FE landscape, in particular:
• to improve understanding of local patterns of provision in school sixth forms (SSF), sixth form colleges (SFCs) and general further education colleges (GFECs).
• to explore the nature and extent of 16-19 provision delivered in discrete sixth form centres in GFECs.
• to explore the extent and nature of wider community activity in GFECs and SFCs.
A range of methods have been used to gather this information, such as, in-depth analysis of Individualised Learner Record (ILR data), national surveys of providers and in-depth interviews with key national stakeholders and providers. The work culminates in two reports mapping 16-19 and wider community provision plus a final report presenting an overarching assessment of current provions across the two areas, including survey and interivew findings and case studies of provision.
